OREO COOKIE CASSEROLE

I have purposely avoided making this particular dessert that I found on Pinterest until I just couldn’t stand to NOT make it anymore and since October is casserole month here at Carolina HeartStrings I thought this treat fit that bill.   This particular creation goes by many names (slutty brownies and Santa’s suicide to name a few) and after taking a taste test I  decided to add my own name to the mix.     I have to tell you that this recipe is dangerous.  It combines three ingredients that tend to be favorites of just about everybody and if you love all three, heaven help you!   Alessa (my twin sister from another mother) also made a wonderful dessert this month with similar ingredients.  Check out her Oreo topped sugar cookie crusted brownies.

24 Oreo cookies

Chocolate chip cookie dough (16.5 ounce roll)

1 box of Brownie mix

Now if you are ambitious you can make your own batch of cookie dough or you can just buy it already made up.  One tube of it will do the trick.   Spray nonstick cooking spray in the bottom and up the sides of a 9 x 13 baking dish.  Place the cookie dough in the bottom of the dish, pressing it out so that it is evenly distributed.  Put the Oreo cookies on top of the cookie dough.  I did 3 rows of 6 cookies.  Mix up your brownie batter according to the box directions and pour over the Oreo layers.  Use a spatula and smooth it around so that it is evenly distributed. Put in a 350 degree oven and bake for 45-55 minutes.   Makes 24 tasty treats!
